Brachychiton acerfolia ia a spectacular Australian native, deciduous tree that varies in size, depending on the environment. Bright green, shiny palmate shaped leaves are followed by vivid red bell-shaped campanulate flowers, after the foliage has shed during October - March. An attractive specimen tree that is a perfect feature for large gardens and parks, suitable for coastal conditions, tropical areas and cool climates. While it thrives in full sun, acerifolia is a diverse species, it is adaptable and will tolerate a range of positions, climates and soil types. The growth rate will be rapid when grown in tropical climates, where as a cool climate will produce a smaller, slow growing tree. For optimum results, keep the soil moist during the growing season and feed regularly using an organic fertiliser. Brachychiton acerifolia will grow to a height of 10-40m and a width of 10-15m.
