The Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum) is a small deciduous tree native to Southern Europe and West Asia. The flowers of this plant are dark pink or purple in colour. During spring, these flowers appear en mass and appear similar to the flowers from the pea family, five free petals and fused sepals. The Judas tree can grow up to a height of 10 metres and a width of 5 metres.

This plant thrives in an area of full sun with slightly acidic or alkaline soils. Avoid hot, exposed and windy environments, and water well until established. It also responds well to pruning and can be shaped to develop as multiple branches or grown as a single-trunk.
