Myoporium parvifolium 'Yareena' is a quick-growing ground-cover suited to a wide range of conditions. It is quite delicate to look at, with a fresh, stiff green foliage of narrow, blunt, thick, semi-succulent leaves. The flower clusters are fragrantly honey-scented and made up of white tubular flowers from late spring to early summer. These are followed by globular berries. This attractive, low-maintenance plant is ideal for filling those gaps, under-planting, cascading down embankments or trailing over retaining walls and raised garden beds, or any situation requiring a rather lush-looking groundcover. Myoporums prefer full-sun to part-shade, and will grow in almost any soil, including inland clays and heavy soils, as long as they are well drained. Also tolerant of coastal regions and waterwise when established, surviving high temperatures of 30 to 40 degrees, and is also high-frost/cold tolerant to -7 degrees. Once this native is established, low water is required, as it is drought-tolerant. As with most plants, a little well-composted mulch is beneficial for retaining moisture and deterring weeds. Being a low-maintenance plant, little pruning is required, only as needed. A slow-release low-phosphorus fertiliser in spring. Myoporum parvifolium 'Yareena will grow to 10cm tall and 1m plus wide.
